Sri Lanka can’t be taken lightly at residence insisted Shastri
Shastri came as a gangly 18-year-old together with the junior group nearly four decades ago to Sri Lanka
After Anil Kumble has been forced to quit under Conditions Shastri took over as coach
“They know their job, they are professional cricketers. They require over, as soon as they step to the area. That’s how it should be,” said Shastri, who took over as coach after Anil Kumble was made to quit under contentious circumstances.
To get Shastri playing “daring brand of cricket” is overriding and that’s what he wants from his group.
“My role will be to find the guys in frame of mind that they escape and express themselves and perform fearless brand of cricket.”
Sri Lanka can’t be taken lightly at residence insisted Shastri.
“Their track record playing at home is as great as every other group. We’d seem to improve from the collection. Else there’s no point playing. You have to try and raise the bar when you play.”
Like another home, the island nation is for Shastri as he first came here nearly four decades ago as a gangly 18-year-old using the junior group.
“The first stamp on my passport was that of Sri Lanka. I came as an 18-year-old for the first time. Then stint as a broadcaster in Sri Lanka in 1994. Now first stint as coach occurs to this. I’ve got lot of fond memories.”
