New Delhi: Sports minister Vijay Goel needs BCCI for a signatory of the revamped Sports Code that will be tabled really shortly.
The richest sporting figure in India is undergoing transition following milestone constitutional reforms pertaining to good government according to Justice RM Lodha Committee.
The BCCI is yet to be a signatory of Sports Code since they don’t receive any government grant.
“The question here isn’t about BCCI. The question is about adding all of the sports in the Sports Code according to my view,” Goel said sitting alongside BCCI’s acting president CK Khanna.
“As of now, the Sports Code is already in existence and is being followed with the federations. For the final code, I think as soon as the report will be prepared we’ll suggest it in front of the country.”
Goel said that he had no understanding regarding BCCI’s opposition about its inclusion in the sports invoice that was considerably delayed.
BCCI’s acting president Khanna, on his part, also refused to comment and stated that it will just be discussed in a suitable time once the sports invoice is tabled.
“Today (Wednesday), I will not comment about anything else. I am here just to encourage him (Goel) for the IPL final. We’ll cross the bridge when it comes. There has not been any such discussions currently,” he explained.
