Indonesia to hold national karate championship
The Executive Board of Indonesia Karate-Do Federation (FORKI) will hold the OSO Cup Karate National Championship on March 24 to 27, Kompas daily reported on Thursday.
The championship with total price of 1 billion rupiah (about 113,791 U.S. dollars) will be joined by 750 athletes from 58 clubs in 33 provinces throughout the country.
“The match regulation refers to the international federation with ‘repechage system’ in which participants beat by champion could perform again to grab third champion title,” said Head of OSO Cup Committee Raja Sapta Ervian Odang.
Chairman of FORKI Hendardji Soepandji said that the championship will be an event to select athletes for an international event of Indonesia Open on June 2011.
“Meanwhile, the Indonesia Open will be a test for athletes for SEA Games,” he said.
